2 Cubs boxers in finals
Butler Cubs boxers Billy Wolfe and Brian Mowry will compete in the Pittsburgh Golden Gloves finals April 7 at the Doubletree Hotel in Monroeville.
Wolfe, 17, will take on Nate Johnson of Carnegie in the 150-pound open division. Mowry, 22, will face Mike Manna of Jack’s Gym in Pittsburgh in the 201-pound open division.
Mowry fought in the semifinal round and knocked out Mike Shook of Pittsburgh 15 seconds into the third round. That bout took place recently at the Wolfpack Gym in Carnegie.
Another Cubs boxer — Issac Gunther — will compete in the Pittsburgh Golden Gloves semifinals March 24 at DuBois Country Club. He will face Braden Spahn of Altoona at 145-pound novice.
Should Wolfe and Mowry win their Pittsburgh finals matches, they will advance to the state finals April 28 at the Monroeville Convention Center.
