The Butler Junior High wrestling team defeated Armstrong, 60-30, Thursday, then placed third in a 27-team tournament at Southside Friday.

Winning by fall for the Golden Tornado against Armstrong were Cade Savocvhka at 130 pounds, Byron Manchester at 145, Cooper Baxter at 165 and Jacob Pomykata at 185. Claiming major decisions were Nick Schaukowitsch at 90 pounds (11-0), Landon Christie at 110 (8-0) and Justin Kabay at 155 (12-2).

Schaukowitsch was Butler’s lone champion in the Southside tourney. It was the first time he’s won a tournament.

Four other Tornado wrestlers — Manchester, Kabay, Pomykata and Greg Schultz — made the finals in their respective weight classes.

Butler travels to Kiski Area for its final dual match of the season Tuesday.
