Youth Sports
The Butler seventh grade Gold boys basketball team improved to 4-6 on the year with a 43-33 win over Valley recently.
Max Gianneski scored 10 points and had five rebounds. Tyler Wiles scored 10 points, DeShawn Cox adding six points and six steals.
In other action:
Butler Catholic’s boys improved to 16-4 on the year with a recent win over Northside Catholic. CJ Singleton scored 30 points and Jon Livermore added nine.
Trevor Braun scored six points, Flint Watson and Tyler Stoops four each.
Hockey
Butler Middle School moved to 5-5-1 on the season with a 3-3 tie against Freeport (6-4-2) Friday night at the Belmont Ice Complex.
Cody Reep had two goals for Butler, Brayden Povlick one, with Carter Bohonak and Owen Denny picking up assists.
Marcus Trask scored twice for Freeport. Caleb Hoffman added a goal, Joseph Liput an assist.
E.J. Delaney made 23 saves in goal for Butler, Tyler Lang 14 saves for Freeport. The Golden Tornado play McDowell at 6:30 p.m. Friday at the Belmont Ice Complex.
