SEVEN FIELDS — Two outgoing council members were honored for their service to the borough at Monday night's meeting.

Jack Oakley and Mike Trotta are leaving the board at the end of the year, after a combined 20 years of service. Tom Smith, borough manager, gave them both small gifts as a token of appreciation.

“It's been a pleasure working with both of them,” Smith said. “I know that they have done their very best in serving their fellow residents in doing what's best for the community.”

Oakley served on the council for 12 years, and Trotta was on for eight nonconsecutive years. They will be replaced by Brian Trimble and Kimberly Regan at the Jan. 2 reorganization meeting.

Oakley also served as council president for six years and vice president for four years. He reflected on his time on the council, saying he was proud of the work they've done, including starting the Evans City-Seven Fields Regional Police force and reducing the borough's debt.

“We did a lot of good things in the 12 years I've been here,” Oakley said. “So many good things come to mind. I know the council will come in and believe the same thing we do … We're residents. We're paying the same taxes. We're trying to represent everyone. It hasn't always been an easy thing. Thank you for allowing me to be here.”
