Truck stuck on railroad tracks

BUTLER TWP — A tractor-trailer driver who realized his rig was too large for McCalmont Road became stuck on the train tracks Thursday night when he tried to turn around.

According to the township police, the truck was traveling south on Meridian Road at about 10 p.m. and turned east onto McCalmont when he noticed the weight limit sign.

Looking for a place to turn around because his truck was overweight, the driver, Aleksander Manga, 44, of Michigan, decided to attempt to reverse his course near the train tracks.

The truck's tires became stuck in one of the tracks and a tow truck called to the scene was able to remove the truck from the dangerous position.

Police were on scene for about two hours.

Manga was cited by police for operating an overweight tractor trailer on a road posted with a 10-ton weight limit.
