A Valencia man was sentenced to state prison in Butler County Court on Thursday, after being removed from the county Drug Treatment Court on charges of burglary.

Justin T. Owens, 36, was sentenced to one to two years in state prison by Judge Timothy McCune.

Owens was placed into the Drug Treatment Court in 2015. That plea stated, in part, that if he were removed from the program he would plead guilty to four felony counts of burglary.

He was also ordered to pay court costs and $1,326 in restitution.

Owens was initially charged with the four felony burglary counts, with two felony counts of criminal trespass laster added.

The charges stem from an investigation by Cranberry Township police after the investigation into four successful burglaries of a physician's office at the Rowan Towers office building on Rowan Road between Sept. 4 and Sept. 19, 2014, stealing medication.

Police said the burglaries would occur at different times of the day, sometimes at night, other times during the day when no one was in the office.

Owens was caught in the fifth incident after employees recognized him from surveillance video and called police.

His combined take in the break-ins Sept. 4, 14, 18 and 19 was 780 tablets of prescription painkillers, police said.
