JEFFERSON TWP — Knoch Middle School and Knoch High School were evacuated briefly Thursday for what district officials called a “low-level local threat.”

The threat occurred in the middle school, though district officials would not specify what it was.

Students from both buildings were moved outside from 12:45 to 1:15 p.m. while school police and state police checked and cleared both buildings and determined that there was no danger.

State police were still investigating the incident Thursday afternoon, though no other information was immediately available.

Parents of affected students were notified about the incident via an automated phone call and text message.

LYNDORA — Area veterans may schedule appointments for veterans assistance from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday at state Rep. Brian Ellis’ 11th District office in Lyndora.

Larry Tuttle, department service officer with the American Legion, will be available to assist local veterans and their families. Membership to the American Legion is not necessary to schedule an appointment.

The outreach takes place on the second Friday of each month at the district office, 6 Chesapeake St., Suite 200, Lyndora.

To schedule an appointment call the office at 724-283-5852.

[naviga:h3]Bus stop changing

The Butler Transit Authority is changing the location of the Greenview Gardens stop for the Route 4 bus beginning Monday. The new stop location is at the bottom of Greenview Drive on Roosevelt Boulevard.

The change is needed because the authority’s new compressed natural gas fueled buses have low floors that scrape the ground at the old bus stop.
