A Saxonburg woman charged with child endangerment pleaded guilty and was sentenced in Butler County Court on Tuesday.

Jessica M. Masdea, 28, pleaded guilty to misdemeanor disorderly conduct before Judge Timothy McCune and was immediately sentenced to pay a $50 fine and court costs.

The plea was the result of an agreement with the Butler County District Attorney's Office, which added the disorderly conduct charge after Masdea was charged with misdemeanor endangering the welfare of children following an incident in Butler on May 23, 2016.

Butler City police charged Masdea after her 2-year-old child allegedly managed to get out of the home and wander away.

Police were called shortly before 11 a.m., after neighbors reported seeing a toddler running around unattended in the area of West Wayne and Krut streets, according to court documents.

The neighbors had the 2-year-old boy with them when police got there. The boy was wearing only a shirt and a soiled diaper.

Police went to the child's home and learned that Masdea was supposed to be caring for the boy. She told police that she had been sleeping and had no idea how the child got out of the house.

Masdea's attorney, public defender Charles Nedz, said his client has completed parenting classes, drug and alcohol classes and rehabilitation, leading to her regaining the custody of two of her children.
