School road bridge opens

JACKSON TWP — The Seneca School Road bridge near the entrance to the Seneca Valley secondary schools campus reopened Tuesday.

The bridge spans the Little Connoquenessing Creek and has been under construction since June, right after school let out for the summer. It was replaced and widened to three lanes as part of PennDOT’s Rapid Bridge Replacement Project.

Motorists may notice a slight bump as they drive across the bridge until a polyester polymer concrete overlay is applied to the deck, according to PennDOT.

The polyester material can only be applied when temperatures are consistently above 40 degrees, dry weather is forecast and after the bridge concrete has cured for at least 30 days.

An alternating traffic pattern will be controlled flaggers when the overlay is applied in spring.
