A Beaver County woman was denied early parole Tuesday in Butler County Court in two forgery cases from 2013.

Ashlee E. Vargon, 25, of Ambridge, who is currently serving time in the Beaver County Prison on an unrelated case, attempted to have her parole restarted in two Butler County cases.

That request was denied by Judge William Shaffer.

Vargon's attorney, public defender Joseph Smith, said she is nearing her max date and will be re-paroled in Beaver County, which precipitated the motion.

Vargon testified saying she will reach that date on Dec. 5, where she will be released from Beaver County detention.

She said she lives in Beaver County, and intends to seek out a rehabilitation program upon release, and asked that she not be returned to Butler County in relation to these two cases.

First Assistant District Attorney Patricia McLean said she was opposed to the motion as Vargon has “more than doubled this sentence because she keeps violating the terms of her parole.”

She said Vargon was initially sentenced on July 23, 2013, and in April her parole on those cases was revoked, her third violation, because of new arrests.

McLean said Vargon's release date from those cases would be in early January and asked “that she just finish out her time.” Vargon was charged with forgery, theft by deception, receiving stolen property, bad checks and related counts after two county police departments say she passed bogus checks at grocery stores in Jackson and Butler townships on Feb. 22, 2013.

She pleaded guilty and was sentenced to time in the county jail followed by probation.
