A Herman man charged with escaping from a local reform school pleaded guilty to the charge in Butler County Court on Tuesday.

Emmanuel Munoz, 19, pleaded guilty to misdemeanor escape before Judge Timothy McCune.

The plea agreement calls for a sentence of probation, fines, court costs, community service and restitution. He is scheduled for sentencing later.

Munoz was initially charged with felony escape, which was changed to a misdemeanor as part of the plea, after an incident at Summit Academy on July 6.

Pennsylvania State Police said Munoz and another juvenile boy escaped from the facility on Herman Road in Summit Township, but were found about 2½ miles away, hiding under a tree behind a house on Dreher Road in neighboring Jefferson Township.

Police did not identify the other escapee, who is facing charges in Butler County juvenile court.

Munoz continues to be held in the Butler County Prison on $10,000 bail pending sentencing.

He is also held on a juvenile detainer out of Delaware County, and has an adult case pending in Philadelphia.
