ADAMS TWP — Students and parents in the Mars School District will use the Web-based program Schoolology this year to check on assignments and keep up with a students' progress.

The new learning management system will serve as an instructional communication portal for parents of students in grades kindergarten through sixth, according to a district press release.

Schoolology will be used as a classroom tool for secondary-level students and their parents.

The release said students in the middle and high schools will use the program to access course information like instructional materials, assignments and assessments as well as classroom announcements and calendars.

Secondary parents will also be able to view a student's activities in Schoolology.

For parents of elementary students, Schoolology will serve as a “classroom teacher-to-home” communication vehicle. The program will contain class calendars and instructional materials like links, lists, tips and tools.

As the school year progresses, students in upper elementary grades will transition to using Schoolology for classroom assignments.

Administrators and teachers in the five Mars buildings will familiarize students with the system during the first few days of school. Parents will then receive login information for the program.
