The Butler Junior High cross country team participated in the Fox Chapel Invitational recently at Hartwood Acres.

Each of four races — seventh and eighth grade boys and girls — consisted of approximately 300 runners.

Jada Pinto and Olivia White paced the Butler girls seventh graders while Sage Vavro and Lucas Slear led the boys.

Samantha Penrod medaled for Butler in the eighth grade girls race, completing the course in 11 minutes, four seconds. Abbie Griffith was Butler’s second finisher.

The Golden Tornado’s Skyler Vavro placed fourth out of 281 runners in the eighth grade boys race, running a time of 9:15. Josh Fry was Butler’s second finisher in 10:02.
