Butler County residents wanting to support the work of local nonprofit organizations have their chance today.

The Pittsburgh Foundation’s Day of Giving is today and includes Butler County organizations such as the United Way of Butler County.

Donations may be made during the 16-hour regional fundraising effort online at butlergives.org until 11:59 p.m. today. They will be matched by the Endowment of Butler County.

This year’s initial Day of Giving, held May 3, was cut short due to technical difficulties. Because of this, most organizations fell short in their fundraising goals.

Amy Beiler, endowment advisory board president, expects a much smoother run this time around, in part because the organizations were able to collect donations before the Day of Giving.

“I look forward to it being of more interest in terms of number of donors,” Beiler said.

The endowment will attempt to match the donations at 25 cents on the dollar.

“The more we have who donate, the more money we’ll have to come up with,” Beiler said. “I hope that’s not too much of a challenge.”
