Clyde E. Rettig

Clyde E. Rettig, 94, of Butler passed away Tuesday at the Good Samaritan Hospice.

He was born Sept. 21, 1921, in Butler, the son of the late Archie J. and Reneta (Frederick) Rettig.

Clyde was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during World War II. He was a member of St. Mark's Evangelical Lutheran Church, the Butler Armco Veterans and Management Club, the Society of Third Extradition, the Victory Masonic Lodge 694, the New Castle Scottish Rite, the Syria Temple, the Butler Shrine Luncheon Club, the Butler Caravan 14, Acacia Club, the AARP and the VFW Post 249. Clyde retired from Armco after 43 years of service.

Surviving are his daughter, Darlene, and her husband, Joseph Huth, of Butler; three grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and his sister, Jean Baxter of Butler.

He also was preceded in death by his wife, Grace E. Rettig; his son, Clyde E. Rettig Jr.; and one sister, Mabel Lindt.

RETTIG — Friends of Clyde E. Rettig, who died Tuesday. Aug. 2, 2016, will be received from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the Young Funeral Home, 127 W. Jefferson St., Butler. Masonic services will be at 6:45 p.m.Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Mark's Evangelical Lutheran Church, 201 W. Jefferson St., Butler, with the Rev. Alden Towberman officiating.Interment will be at the Butler County Memorial Park with military honors by the American Legion Post 778 and 117 and the VFW Post 249.Contributions may be made in Clyde's memory to the Good Samaritan Hospice, 134 Marwood Drive, Cabot, PA 16023.For information, visit www.youngfuneralhomes.com.
