The Butler County Second Amendment Rally and Butler City Open Carry Day will be from 9 a.m. to noon Aug. 27 at Diamond Park in Butler.

The event is organized by the Butler County Chapter of FOAC (Firearms Owners Against Crime).

Speakers scheduled are Kim Stolfer, FOAC president; Butler Mayor Tom Donaldson; Sheriff Mike Slupe, president of the Pennsylvania Sheriffs’ Association; Marcus Kohan, acting president of the Pennsylvania Oath Keepers; Assistant District Attorney Ben Simon; and Jack Lee, chairman of Friends of the NRA.

The event is to show support for the Second Amendment to carry guns and to raise public awareness of threats to citizens’ Constitutional rights.

There will be a special presentation to the Butler High School Rifle Team.

Anyone who plans to open carry a gun at the event is encouraged by organizers to be responsible and respectful and any signs must be polite and topical.
