JACKSON TWP — The Seneca Valley School Board voted Monday night to accept $25,000 from its former bus contractor in return for security cameras.

The district and A.J. Myers and Sons jointly bought the cameras which are in the buses and vehicles owned by the company, said Linda Andreassi, district director of communications.

The district accepts the money in return for Myers keeping the cameras.

That amount will be deducted from any money payable by the district to Myers for its services, according to the motion approved by the board.

Myers had been the district’s primary busing provider for 26 years, but in April the board awarded a seven-year contract to ABC Transit, which offered the lowest price of $3.8 million per year.

ABC will be picking up students this fall in new buses, officials with the company said.
