BUTLER TWP — New sidewalks will be coming to the entrance of Northwest Elementary School and the drop-off area of the Butler Middle School, hopefully before the beginning of the school year.

The Butler School Board on Monday night vote to pay $208,700 to have W.K. Thomas and Associates to replace the curb and sidewalks at Northwest, the middle school and along North Street and North McKean Street.

The work was originally budgeted at $185,000 so the additional funding will come from unused capital projects funds from the 2015-2016 school year, according to Deborah Brandstetter, director of business services.

The construction is expected to be completed before the start of the school year, Sept. 1.
