A Prospect man who was injured in a two-vehicle accident Friday evening has died, state police said Saturday.

Robert Pollock Jr., 45, was driving a motorcycle on Route 422 West when he was hit by a car driven by Katrina Book, 34, of Butler, who was turning left into the parking lot of Michael’s Restaurant at 970 New Castle Road.

Book’s Chevrolet Aveo collided with Pollock, throwing him roughly 50 feet from his motorcycle, according to the state police in Butler.

Pollock had facial, pelvic and internal injuries and was taken by helicopter to UPMC Presbyterian Hospital in Pittsburgh.

He was pronounced dead at the hospital at 12:55 p.m. Saturday, according to the Allegheny County Medical Examiner’s Office. An autopsy determined Pollock died of chest injuries.

Book, who was not wearing a seat belt, suffered minor injuries to a wrist and a knee. She was taken to Butler Memorial Hospital, police said.

Police did not say if Pollock wore a helmet.

The car and motorcycle both were towed, and westbound lane of Route 422 was shut down for several hours. The eastbound lane was kept open.

Prospect Volunteer Fire Department responded to the accident along with Portersville Volunteer EMS, Butler Ambulance Service.

The Edward L. Raisley Funeral Home of Prospect is handling funeral arrangements for Pollock.
