SLIPPERY ROCK TWP — Slippery Rock School Board will interview candidates to fill a vacant seat at the group’s regular meeting Monday night, district officials said.

The interviews come after board member Polly Shaw, who served on the board since 2009 and also served in the late 1980s, resigned effective July 25, said board secretary Paul Cessar. Cessar said Shaw cited personal reasons in her resignation to board members.

By state law the board has 30 days to fill the vacant seat, or a court can appoint a new member. Cessar said the district has already received applications from individuals interested in filling Shaw’s seat, and that interested candidates have until Sunday to submit applications.

Current members of the 9-member board will then interview applicants at their regular meeting, which begins at 7:30 p.m. Monday.
