CHERRY TWP — Salary increases have been approved for four principals and the directors of special education, buildings and grounds, food service, and technology in the Moniteau School District.

The new five-year plan for salary and benefits approved Monday by the school board covers July 1 through June 2021.

Those eight administrators will receive a maximum 3 percent raise each year of the five years.

Under the new contract, the salary for Lance Fox, high school principal, will increase from $92,550 to $95,553 and for Todd Amsler, high school assistant principal, from $79,160 to $85,013.

The salary for Dustin Thompson, elementary school principal, will increase from $86,500 to $89,095 and for Nicole Fox, elementary school assistant principal, from $79,160 to $83,600.

Superintendent George Svolos said there were no major changes to their other benefits.

In other business, the board:

On July 6 approved a contract with Book and Proch Well Drilling of New Castle for work on the Dassa McKinney Elementary School water well repair at a cost not to exceed $125,190.

Svolos said the well was not producing at maximum level.

“We had it tested and it needed to be refurbished and repaired,” he said. “It's a necessary expenditure.”

Svolos said the work is proceeding according to schedule.

“We have water now and we will have water for the start of school,” he said.

Approved a new five-year contract for John Stoughton who is director of athletics and director of transportation. The contract is retroactive to July 1. His salary for 2016-17 is $42,500.

Approved $12,305 to buy 16 round cafeteria tables. These will replace older, worn tables. Eight cafeteria tables were not replaced. At its June 27 meeting, the board approved $7,923 to buy red chairs for the tables.
