A New York trucker was hurt Thursday when he lost control of his tractor-trailer while stopping on Route 422 at Geibel Road in Summit Township. Arthur H. Purdy 75, of Cairo, who was wearing a seat belt, was taken to Butler Memorial Hospital with unknown injuries from the 1:52 p.m. crash which happened when a vehicle in front of Purdy stopped to make a turn. When he applied his brakes, his trailer’s rear axel locked up, sending the rig sliding into a ditch. Police cited Purdy for following too closely to another vehicle, disregarding traffic lanes and disobeying traffic control devices.
