An accused drug dealer already awaiting trial for allegedly selling heroin has been arrested again for the same crime.

Shayna M. McDowell, 31, of Butler on Monday waived her right to a preliminary hearing on the latest charges, which include three felonies.

The charges stem from a Butler County Drug Task Force investigation during which a police informant July 5 called McDowell on her cell phone and set up a heroin deal, according to court documents.

The defendant later allegedly sold several stamp bags of suspected heroin to the informant for $80.

McDowell is charged with delivery of a controlled substance, possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance and criminal use of a communication facility

Other charges include possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia.

District Judge William Fullerton on Monday arraigned McDowell on the charges. She promptly waived her case to Butler County Court.

She was placed in the county prison on $25,000 bail following the court proceedings.

Court records showed that the defendant has a pending narcotics trafficking case, also filed by the county drug task force, that dates back more than three years ago.

In that suspected drug deal March 20, 2013, McDowell is accused of selling 10 stamp bags of heroin in Butler.

She was released on her own recognizance following her arrest. But earlier this year she landed in the county prison after failing to appear for a court hearing in that 2013 case.

Three days later, however, she posted $2,000 bail May 26 and was released, according to court records.
