Martin 60th anniversary
William and Shirley Martin of Slippery Rock will celebrate 60 years of marriage with a family dinner. They also celebrated their anniversary with a trip to Indianapolis.
Martin married the former Shirley Cooper on Aug. 23, 1955 at Zion Baptist Church in Worth Township.
They have two children, Donald Martin and Barbara Mathews, both of Slippery Rock.
They also have five grandchildren.
Martin retired from Slippery Rock University. He also operated a meat processing and frozen food center for 24 years. He recently retired as a volunteer manager of the Slippery Rock Cemetery after eight years.
He is a member of Grove City Lodge 603 New Castle Consistory, Syria Shrine, American Legion, VFW, Butler Shrine Luncheon Club and the ACTS choir.
Mrs. Martin is a housewife. She is a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, Slippery Rock Senior Center fitness, the ACTS choir and the SRHS Alumni Association board.
The Martins are members of Highland Presbyterian Church.
