Woman picked for pipeline infrastructure task force

HARRISBURG — A Wexford woman has been appointed to the newly created Pipeline Infrastructure Task Force, according to Mike Turzai, R-28, speaker of the state House.

Lauren Parker, 33, a civil engineer and principal at Civil Environmental Consultants in Pittsburgh, was named to the task force, which was created in May by Gov. Tom Wolf.

“Lauren's knowledge of the impact of regulation on consumers and businesses in the oil and gas industry is extensive and impressive,” Turzai said in a statement.

Wolf created the task force to promote the development of a solid gas pipeline infrastructure system. The state is expected to have a lot of construction of pipeline infrastructure to move natural gas from wells to plants and to the market, and the task force is designed to help the government work with the industry.

The task force will include representatives from state agencies, the legislature, federal and local governments, the pipeline and natural gas industries and environmental groups, among others.
