Bob Parker

Bob L. Parker, 79, of Meridian passed away at 1:08 a.m. Saturday from congestive heart failure at the VNA Inpatient Hospice.

He was born on Oct. 13, 1935, in Sterling, Kan., to the late Walter H. Parker and Dollie L. Griffith Parker.

Bob proudly served in the U.S. Marine Corp as a sergeant.

He married Nancy Mae Parker on July 18, 1959.

Bob worked at Armco/AK Steel, Butler Works as a furnace tender in the Hilltop Silicon Department for 37 years until his retirement in 1995. After he retired, he and Nancy wintered in Florida.

He was an avid hunter and fisherman. Bob was a faithful member of the Meridian United Presbyterian Church and was always willing to help others on construction jobs. He will be greatly missed by family and friends.

In addition to his wife, Nancy, he is survived by his two sons, Bradley R. Parker and his wife, Yvonne, of Lakeland, Fla., and Ronald H. Parker and his fiancee, Joann Palluzzi, of Bishopville, Md.; his daughter, Paula J. Arnold and her husband, Douglas, of Renfrew; his six grandchildren, Lynn Miller and her husband, Tim, Gary Cygan and his wife, Candice, Richard Parker, Ashley Parker, Nicole Parker and Derek Kaufman; his two stepgrandchildren, Sonia McHenry and Jason Arnold; his four great-grandchildren, Isaac, Raleigh, Simon and Decklyn; his two step-great-grandchildren, Kyle and Connor; and his sister, Anita Davis of Dewey, Okla.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Richard H. Parker.

Parker — The friends of Bob L. Parker, who passed away Saturday, Dec. 27, 2014, will be received from 3 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, 124 E. North St., Butler.Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home with the Pastor Steve Franklin of Meridian United Presbyterian Church officiating. Officers and members of the VFW Post 249 of Butler, the American Legion 117 of Butler and the American Legion 778 of Lyndora will conduct memorial services at the funeral home following the service. Burial will take place in the Butler County Memorial Park.In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Meridian United Presbyterian Church, 4150 Highland Ave., Butler, PA 16001 or to the VNA Inpatient Hospice, 115 Technology Drive, Butler, PA 16001.Online condolences can be given at www.thompson-miller.com.
