Gary Lee Petrigni
Gary Lee Petrigni, 72, of Butler passed away Sunday morning at VNA Inpatient Hospice following a short illness.
Born in Butler on July 25, 1942, he was the son of the late Albert “Big Slug” and Ethel “Dukie” Dupe Petrigni.
Gary was retired. He formerly worked as a press operator at Pullman Standard and Trinity Industries.
A Vietnam War veteran, he served in the U.S. Marines.
He was a member of the Saint Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church, Butler.
He belonged to the Italian Society, the French and Belgium Club, the Moose Lodge of Butler and the VFW Post 249 of Butler.
Gary was a Penn State football fan and an avid bowler. He loved going to the casino and to dog races.
Surviving are his wife, Mary Ann Stevenson Angert Petrigni, who he married on Aug. 3, 1991; his two daughters, Jody Benninger of New Castle and Elizabeth “Beth” Croll and her husband, Roger, of Slippery Rock; his two sons, James Petrigni and his wife, Jayni, of Butler and Sam Petrigni and his wife, Nicole, of Butler; his stepson, Troy Angert and his wife, Bridgette, of Karns City; his sister, Janis D. Honse of Renfrew; and his brother, Connie Petrigni and his wife, Vickie, of Derry, New Hampshire.
Gary also is survived by his 12 grandchildren; his six great-grandchildren; and his numerous nieces and nephews. He was also eagerly awaiting the arrival of his seventh great-grandchild due in December.
In addition to his parents, Gary was preceded in death by his brother, Ladimore “Bobo” Petrigni, and his grandson, Jason Frank.
Petrigni— The friends of Gary Lee Petrigni, who passed away Sunday, Oct. 5, 2014, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday in theMartin Funeral Home, 429 Center Ave., Butler.The Bereavement Group of Saint Michael the Archangel parish will meet at 3 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home to conduct a Scriptural Wake Service.
