S. Edward 'Ed' Kline
S. Edward “Ed” Kline, 81, of Zelienople passed away April 5 at the Evergreen Nursing Center in Harmony.
Born on Oct. 17, 1932, in Harmony, he was the son of the late Warren and Helen (Gerwig) Kline.
Ed was a 1951 graduate of Zelienople High School. He was an active and faithful member of Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses in Zelienople where he loved preaching the word of God.
He was a proud U.S. Army veteran who served from 1953 until 1955 and was a member of the Airborne Infantry.
Ed worked as a machinist for Robinson Ventilating for more than 25 years and was a member of the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers.
He played baseball in the Butler County League for Harmony.
Ed was an avid supporter of various charitable organizations, and in his spare time, he enjoyed raising farm animals, hunting, fishing and showing off his prized chickens at the Big Butler Fair and the Butler Farm Show.
Above all, he was a loving father, brother, grandfather and great-grandfather who will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered.
He is survived by the mother of his children, Shirley L. Kline of Renfrew; his children, Rita Kline of Renfrew, Vince Kline of Renfrew and Terry Kline of Colorado; his daughter-in-law, Sherrill Kline of Mars; his sisters, Lila Wearing of Evans City and Sally Kelly of New Castle; his brothers, Richard Kline of Fombell, Norman Kline of Zelienople and Ken Kline and his wife, Sue, of Harmony; his three grandchildren, Michael, Steffanie and Nickolas Kline; his great-grandson, Conner; and his numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Laury “Chip” Kline, who passed away July 16, 2013; his sister, Gloria Mae; his sister-in-law, Doreen Kline; and his brothers-in-law, George Wearing and “Chub” Kelly.
