Joseph A. Radvinski Sr.
Joseph A. Radvinski Sr., 83, of Butler, passed away Sunday morning at the VNA Hospice.
Born on Dec. 4, 1930, he was the son of the late Joseph and Sadie Woloshin Radwanski. His name was changed in school from Radwanski to Radvinski by his teacher.
He was a longtime member and usher at the St. Fidelis Parish in Lyndora, which was formerly the St. Stanislaus Kostka parish.
Joseph worked at the Pullman Standard Car Manufacturing Co. until the plant closed, and he continued working at the Butler Mall until his retirement.
Joseph was a U.S. Army veteran who served in the Korean War and a second tour in Germany and Okinawa.
He was a member of the Michael Kosar Post 778 of the American Legion in Lyndora and a member of the Polish National Alliance 645, where he served as treasurer for a term.
He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Bernice Wojtyna Radvinski who he married on July 25, 1959; his two sons Joseph (Esther) A. Radvinski Jr. of Lyndora and John F. Radvinski of Butler; his beloved granddaughter, Hope Lauren Radvinski of Lyndora; and his nieces and nephews.
Joe was a loving husband, father, grandfather, uncle, neighbor and friend. He enjoyed spending time with his family and the family dogs, Pain and Lacey. His great joy was his granddaughter, and he enjoyed teaching her Polish. He enjoyed gardening, fishing, playing the accordion and listening to polkas. He also enjoyed cooking with his wife, Bea, and took pride that both his sons are chefs.
In addition to Joseph's parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters.
Radvinski— Visitation for Joseph A. Radvinski, who passed away, Sunday, April 6, 2014, will be from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the Geibel Funeral Home, 201 E. Cunningham St., Butler.A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the St. Fidelis Catholic Church, 303 Penn Ave., Lyndora, with the Rev. George Palick officiating.
