Butler’s junior high wrestling team improved to 13-3 with a 57-22 win over Hopewell recently.
Zak Dovenspike had the Golden Tornado’s lone pin at 138 pounds. Jack Codispot moved up to 95 pounds and won a 6-2 decision. Donovan Malovich bumped up to 13-0 and won a 2-0 decision.
Christian Sequete won his match, 4-2, in overtime. Butler had seven wrestlers win via forfeit.
The Tornado junior high and varsity teams will wrestle side by side Tuesday night at West Allegheny.

Several Butler elementary wrestlers fared well in recent tournaments.
Levi Donnel claimed first place in the 8-under and 10-under 55-pound divisions in the Beaver Brawl Open Tournament. Greg Schultz took first place in the 10-under heavyweight division.
Cade Savochka placed third in the 10-under 80-pound class and Justin Kabay placed third in the 12-under 95-pound class.
In the Beaver Brawl novice division, Santino Sloboda won the 6-under 45-pound division while Cole Slezak was second at 10-under 90 pounds, Noah Convery second at 10-under 100 pounds, Mason McCall third at 8-under 50 pounds and Maddox McCall fourth at 6-under 40 pounds.
BasketballCamden Laconi scored 29 points while Matt Nichol added seven in Butler Catholic’s boys varsity’s 38-32 win over St. Alexis of Wexford recently.The Saints improved to 10-2 in section play.Butler Catholic’s junior varsity boys posted a 35-21 win to move to 12-1 in section play. Nicholas Maher had 17 points, Nathan Higgins seven, Tom Voelker and Colin Gallagher four each.
