Knoch’s youth wrestlers fared well in a few tournaments over the weekend.

Brendan Hinchberger placed first in his age division at 110 pounds at the Avonworth Odd-Age Tournament and Greensburg Salem Open Tournament. Eli Reese placed fourth and second, respectively, in his age division at 100 pounds at the same events.

Kody Moore placed first at 11-under, 105 pounds at the Clarion Odd-Age Tournament and Laurel Spartans Tournament.

Also placing at the Avonworth tourney were Christian Scheller (2nd at 9-under, 80 pounds) and third-placers Dustin Schlagel (11-under, 100-105), Matt Goodlin (11-under, 95), Keegan Fraser (11-under, 85), Gavin McGowan (9-under, 75) and Ty Misitis (11-under, 70).

BasketballButler Catholic’s seventh-eighth grade boys defeated Assumption, 39-20, as Camden Laconi scored 23 points and Matt Nichol 10.The Saints’ junior varsity boys improved to 10-1 overall and first place in section play with a 26-12 win over St. Ursula. Nicholas Maher scored eight points, Nathan Higgins seven and Colin Gallagher six.St. Ursula defeated Butler Catholic’s varsity (9-2) 37-28 despite 14 points from Laconi.
