Seven Fields OKs $116K in spending
SEVEN FIELDS — The borough council Monday night approved more than $116,000 in spending for projects.
The largest expenditure is $50,000 for a new backhoe for the public works department. According to Manager Tom Smith, the borough’s current backhoe is more than 12 years old.
The second largest expenditure also is for the public works department and included $35,210 for a new Bobcat utility machine. The money covers a new trailer to haul the Bobcat.
Council also voted to replace the heating and air conditioning system in the borough building for $27,961. The current system was installed when the building was constructed in 1995.
Smith said before the council vote that Seven Fields has spent $22,000 since 2010 on repairs and maintenance to the heating and air conditioning systems both in the borough building and in the community center.
Council decided to wait until 2015 to buy a new heating and air conditioning system for the community center, which has the same system since the building was constructed in 1992.
Finally, council decided to spend $3,625 on a new website. GovOffice, a company that specializes in creating cost-effective websites for local governments, will handle the project.
