Holy Sepulcher teams enter robotics tourney
MIDDLESEX TWP — Three teams from the Holy Sepulcher Catholic School Robotics Club participated in a recent Lego League Robotics Tournament Series, with the rookie team receiving a third-place honor.
The rookie team members are seventh graders Ryan Connolly, Mark Macri and John Ellenberger, and sixth graders Brady Collins, Jay Macri and Ben Zock.
More than 28 teams from schools and clubs gathered Jan. 4 at LaRoche College to test the NXT Robots they had built.
Teams worked together to build a Lego robot that would complete as many tasks as possible in 2½ minutes. Teams also researched and created new ways to prepare for or react to natural disasters with this year’s theme of “nature’s fury.”
The Holy Sepulcher robotic program consists of sixth-, seventh- and eighth-grade students who participate in the after-school STEM program.
Varsity robotic members are eighth graders Austin Cherry, Issac Davanzati, Tony DiGiacobbe, Patrick Kriley, Ethan Revitsky, Greg Schratz and Nick Zyble, and seventh grader Chaney Best.
There also is an all-girls team of seventh graders Veronica Muth, Mary Kate Schratz and Veronica Shaffer, and sixth grader Gracie Muth.
