BRADY TWP — Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts from the Junior Girl Scout and Webelo Scout ages/levels and up can attend “Scout Stewards,” a learning and volunteering experience at Jennings Environmental Education Center.

The event, part of a Prairie Improvement Day weekend, will take place from 9 a.m. to noon Jan. 19.

Scouts can discover the importance of maintaining resources on public lands and participate in a volunteer project to help the park manage and enhance its prairie ecosystem.

Participants will receive a commemorative patch.

Space is limited and advanced registration is required.

The fee is $5 per person (children and adults), paid in advance but refundable upon attendance at the event. Individual scouts or troops/packs/groups of no more than 10 can register for the program beginning at 9 a.m. Friday by contacting the center at 724-794-6011. Registration will close Jan. 10.

GROVE CITY — Trinity Living Center, 400 Hillcrest Ave., earlier this month held its first artist showcase.The center collaborated with two local artists, Sheila McKay and Don Gold, to create the show, which the center said was a success.“Plans are already under way for next year's show,” said Suzanne Carr, life enrichment director at the center.The four-day event was open to the community. McKay and Gold, as well as some of their students, displayed their work at the center. Additionally, about 14 of the center's residents as well as some staff members displayed work, including paintings, sculpture, woven rugs and greeting cards.
