Anne Cummings
Anne Cummings, 86, a resident of the YWCA in Butler, formerly of the Terrace Apartments, died Saturday morning at the Butler Memorial Hospital.
Born June 10, 1926, in Butler, Anne was a daughter of the late Harry J. and Margaret G. (Turner) Shuler Sr.
Anne graduated from Butler High School and was a payroll supervisor for Heckett Engineering Co. in Butler for nearly 20 years, retiring in 1974.
She was a member of St. Paul Roman Catholic Church in Butler, of St. Paul’s Guild, of the Christian Mothers and of the Diocesan Council of Catholic Women.
Anne was a volunteer for the Senior Adult Center Group at the Butler VA Medical Center, Butler, for more than 15 years and received a VA award for 5,000 hours volunteered. Anne also volunteered at the Sunnyview Home where she received a volunteer award in May 2004 for 15 years of service.
Anne loved to crochet and had made an afghan each year for 24 years for a raffle for the Violet Luncheon for the St. Paul’s Guild.
She also was a ceramist for many years, as a hobby and to make personal gifts. In addition, she was an active amateur photographer.
Anne is survived by four siblings, her brother, Harry J. “Skip” Shuler and his wife Augie of Butler; and her three sisters, Mrs. Agnes Osche of Cabot, Mrs. Mary Rasely of Butler, and Mrs. Jane Beck of Vienna, Ohio. She also is survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Leonidas “Bo” Cummings, whom she married April 22, 1948, and who died March 17, 1985; and two brothers, John Patrick Shuler and Norman Albert Shuler.
CUMMINGS — A Mass of Christian burial for Anne Cummings, 86, who died Saturday morning, Oct. 27, 2012, will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday, at St. Paul Roman Catholic Church, 128 N. McKean St., Butler. The Rev. Harry Bielewicz, pastor, will officiate. Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Butler. Arrangements were made by the GEIBEL FUNERAL HOME, 201 E.
