Joseph F. McCrea

Joseph F. McCrea, 68, of Fenelton passed away Friday at Montefiore Hospital.

Born April 23, 1944, in Butler, he was the son of Hugh McCrea and Ellen Hindman McCrea.

Joe served in the National Guard. He was a log cutter for several years before becoming a business owner when he started McCrea Gun Shop in 1974. He later added a sporting clays facility.

He liked to hunt, fish and read. He also enjoyed building things, making them work and doing what he called his “next little adventure.”

He was a member of the H.L. Shearer Sporting and Literary Society.

He loved his family and especially the grandkids because kids always see the fun in life. He touched the lives of many people and will be missed.

Surviving are his best friend and companion, of 18 years, Lois Bell of Fenelton; three daughters, Lori (James) Hollis of West Grove, Pa., Diane McCrea of Moshannon, Pa., and Joanne McCrea of Parkton, Md.; three grandchildren, Hannah, Henry and Ben Hollis; one brother, James (Velma) McCrea of Fenelton; numerous nieces and nephews; Lois' children, Gretchen (Rodney) St. Clair, Eric (Angie) Dumbaugh, Erin (Karen) Dumbaugh; six grandchildren; and one great-grandson.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Bernard McCrea; and one sister, Mary Peters.

MCCREA — There will be no visitation for Joseph F. McCrea, who passed away Friday, Sept. 28, 2012. A private memorial service will be held later.The family has requested no flowers or donations. Instead, the family would like you to drink a toast to him and wish him well on his “next little adventure.”Arrangements are entrusted to the Fox Funeral Home, Saxonburg.
