Wendy Pfeifer Evans
Wendy Pfeifer Evans, 56, of Knoxville, Tenn., died Saturday at her home surrounded by her family following a four-year, 10-month courageous battle with inflammatory breast cancer.
Born Feb. 7, 1956, in Ellwood City, she was the daughter of Doris Hilliard Pfeifer of Portersville and the late Richard Ardelle Pfeifer.
A 1974 graduate of Slippery Rock High School, Wendy lived in Virginia Beach, Va., for 20 years where she worked for Priority Health Care and later received her bachelor’s in business administration from Virginia Wesleyan University in 1993.
Moving to Greeneville, Tenn., with her family in 2001, Wendy and her husband, Russell, worked with the Tennessee Baptist Children’s Home and were active members of the First Baptist Church of Greeneville. In 2006, the family moved to Knoxville where she worked with Sun Trust Bank prior to her illness, and she was a member of the Grace Baptist Church.
Even though the past four years and 10 months have been difficult, Wendy persevered. She had great faith in her Lord, loved her boys, enjoyed family vacations and had a passion for taking care of children. “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith,” 2 Timothy 4:7.
