Center Township, East Butler earn wins

East Butler and Center Township posted victories Saturday in Butler Area Midget Football League play at Memorial Park.

East Butler 19, Meridian 6 — Dallas Hays scored on a 67-yard run and added the PAT in the second quarter for East Butler. Meridian answered with a 1-yard scoring run by Alec Bayer.

Hays scored on a 25-yard run for East Butler in the fourth quarter before Mason Schultz fell on a Meridian fumble in the end zone for the Bulldogs’ final score.

Center Township 42, Butler City 6 — Gavin Terwilliger scored on a 4-yard run for Center Township, but Butler City’s Dante Smith returned the ensuing kickoff 70 yards for the game-tying score. CT took the lead for good later in the quarter on Adam Hohn’s 1-yard run.

Terwilliger scored on a 23-yard run and Michael DiMartino added the conversion kick. Luke Kernic caught a 37-yard touchdown pass and DiMartino added another PAT kick. Terwilliger added TD runs of 93 and 95 yards with DiMartino adding one more conversion kick.

Junior Varsity

Meridian 20, Eaast Butler 6 — Bayden Davenport scored one touchdown and Andrew Martin scored two for Meridian, Mitchell Wong adding PATs. Hunter Green scored for East Butler.

Center Township 20, Butler City 6 — Kyler Callihan scored twice for CT — once on an interception — and Trevor Gahagan scored a touchdown. Andrew Kline and Ben Rusnak added PATs. Tre Syephens scored for Butler City.

Mighty Mite Scores — Center Township edged Butler City 13-12 and Meridian defeated East Butler, 13-6.
