East Butler remains unbeaten
East Butler remained unbeaten in Butler Area Midget Football League play with a 24-6 victory over Center Township Saturday at Memorial Park.
The Bulldogs (4-0) scored three touchdowns in the first quarter. Jake Trinkley had a 33-yard touchdown run with Kyle Heller catching the conversion pass.
Brandon Hilderbrand scored on a 53-yard scamper and Rhett Wahler added the conversion run. Trinkley then scored on a 24-yard TD run before Nathan Kibble added the conversion run.
Center Township (0-4) scored on Adam Hohn’s 14-yard TD pass to Jason Gray.
Meridian 16, Butler City 14 — Zach Lowrie got Butler City (1-3) on the board first with a 24-yard touchdown catch on fourth down. Brandon Selfridge ran in the conversion.Meridian (3-1) got even in the third quarter when Alex Bayer tossed a 26-yard scoring pass to Zach Henderson and Kelly Kuharic ran for the conversion.Kuharic threw a 36-yard touchdown pass to Cameron Kovach and Kuharic’s conversion run gave Meridian a 16-8 lead in the fourth quarter, Butler City answered with a 4-yard Selfridge TD run with 1:46 left, but the conversion run was short of the goal line.In this Saturday’s action, Meridian faces East Butler at 5 p.m. and Center Township takes on Butler City at 7 p.m. at Memorial Park.From staff reports
