Clarence E. 'Big Ed' Alcorn Jr.
Clarence E. “Big Ed” Alcorn Jr. of Harrisville passed away Friday at his home.
Born Nov. 26, 1953, in Grove City, he was the son of Clarence E. Alcorn Sr. and Wilda Baker Alcorn.
Big Ed received his education from Franklin High School and the Allegheny-Clarion Valley High School.
He married Linda Hamilton Alcorn, who survives.
Big Ed had been employed at the Annandale Sandstone and Quarry in Boyers as a machinist. He also had been employed at Slippery Rock Salvage and Ward Trucking in Barkeyville as a laborer. Most recently, he had been self employed.
Big Ed loved to work on his big block modified race car and loved taking it to dirt tracks to race. He loved going to yard sales and looking for different parts for his race car.
He loved spending time with his children and especially his little critters, Blake King, ShyAnne McCool, Jared Alcorn, Shawn “Mikey” McCool, Shelby “Little Red” McCool and Jessalynn Smith. He loved all his animals on his mini farm, especially his beagle dog.
Mr. Alcorn was a member of the NRA.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, are four children, Salena King and her husband, DeWayne, of Grove City, Clarence E. “Eddy” Alcorn III of Harrisville, Kayla Alcorn of Harrisville and Jessica Alcorn of Harrisville; three sisters, Juanita S. Gothe and her husband, Craig, of Barkeyville, Darlene K. Custer of Grove City and Brenda L. York of Mercer; and two brothers, Harry L. Alcorn and his wife, Jackie Toth, of Eau Claire and Larry J. Alcorn and his wife, Virginia, of Virginia. Numerous aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces and cousins also survive.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
<B>ALCORN</B> — The family of Clarence E. “Big Ed” Alcorn Jr., who died Friday, Aug. 5, 2011, will receive friends at the <B>Larry E. McKinley Funeral Home</B>, 109 Emlenton St., Clintonville, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday. Funeral services will be at the funeral home Wednesday at 11 a.m. with the Rev.
