Ruth J. Versaw, 86, of Hampton Township died Wednesday morning surrounded by her loving family.

Born in Pittsburgh, Dec. 9, 1924, she was the daughter of the late Samuel and Jane “Jeanie” McKinven Heggie.

Mrs. Versaw was a member of Bakerstown United Methodist Church.

She is survived by her supportive husband of 68 years, Forrest Fred “Woody” Versaw Jr., who she married Feb. 21, 1943, and three children, Patricia Poshard and her husband, Charles, of Wexford, Wendy Johnston and her husband, William, of Valencia and Forrest Fred “Chip” Versaw III, and his wife, Renee, of Butler. She was the beloved Granny to seven grandchildren, Chad Poshard of Pittsburgh, Elizabeth (Shayne) Roos of Robinson, Andrea (Shane) Lindsay and Jennifer (Michael) Zatchey, both of Seven Fields, Douglas (Katharine) Johnston of Cranberry Township and Jordann Versaw and Rachael Versaw, both of Mars. Also surviving are three great-grandchildren, Bryce, Meredith and Luka Zatchey, and she was anticipating the arrival of her fourth great-grandchild in the fall.

She was preceded in death by her sisters, Margaret Bryson and Florence Johnston; and her brothers, James and Samuel Heggie.

A kind, true friend, Ruth was the nurturing center of her family and was always willing to do anything she possibly could for those she loved.

She enjoyed traveling, the change of seasons, snow and baking pies. She especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and grandbabies.

Dennis Swineford, pastor, officiating.
