Jean M. Adams
Jean M. Adams, 89, formerly of Petrolia and Chicora, died Monday in Butler Memorial Hospital following a lingering illness.
She had worked as a beautician for Christy's Beauty Shop in Butler for six years.
She was a member of the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, Chicora.
She enjoyed sewing on plastic canvas, camping in Erie and being with her children, grandchildren and friends.
Born July 6, 1921, in Kaylor, she was the daughter of the late Ethel Rohrbach Mackey and David Mackey.
Her husband, Clifford L. Adams, who she married Oct. 16, 1943, in Manchester, Tenn., died Feb. 27, 2008.
Surviving are a daughter, Barbara Anthony of Chicora; a son, Frank Adams and his wife, Diane, of Bradys Bend; five grandchildren, Tammy Blair, Clifford Anthony, Jerry Anthony, Michelle Jones and Stephanie Goblin; seven great-grandchildren including a special great-grandson in her life, Clifford Lee Anthony, who she helped raise; eight great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Dorothy VanderMay and her husband, Robert, of Parsippany, N.J.; and a son-in-law, Donald McCarl of Butler;
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Dorothy, McCarl; a grandson-in-law, J.J. Blair; a great-grandson, Richard Blair; and a son-in-law, Jerry Anthony.

Adams, who died Monday, May 23, 2011, will be received at the <B>Steighner Funeral Home</B>, downtown Chicora, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday and at the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 2217 Chicora Road, Chicora, from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday, where services will follow at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Joseph Boomhower, pastor, officiating.
