James E. Govan
James E. Govan, 72, of Valencia, Adams Township, died Saturday morning at his home.
Born in Valencia, July 9, 1938, he was the son of the late James George and Mabel Boice Govan.
He was a member of the Mars United Presbyterian Church, where he enjoyed services and other activities.
He was instrumental in buying of the ground and helping build the Adams Community Park. He was a former 4-H leader and a softball coach for Mars Area Girls Softball.
He loved his grandchildren and giving them rides on his quad runner. He also loved to hunt and farm and loved his cows.
He retired as head of maintenance from ESM and was a self-employed carpenter.
Surviving are his wife, Nancy Kennedy Govan, who he married Aug. 4, 1958; his children, James Francis Govan and his wife, Shirley, of Valencia, Suzanne V. Grove and her husband, Dan, of Harrisville, Craig Garrett Govan and his wife, Michelle, of Cabot and Christi Lei Augustine and her husband, John, of Valencia; eight grandchildren, Faith Ann Govan, Nicole Marie Grove, Dan Grove Jr., Samuel Govan, Hannah Govan, Emily Govan, Jacob James Augustine and Sara Augustine; and his siblings, Frank Govan and his wife, Jan, of Valencia, Betty Hill of Valencia and the late Richard and John Govan.

Govan, who died Saturday, May 7, 2011, will be received at the <B>McDonald-Aeberli Funeral Home</B>, 238 Crowe Ave., Mars, today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Services will be in the Mars United Presbyterian Church, 232 Crowe Ave., Mars, Tuesday at 11 a.m. with the Rev.
