Laura 'Sis' Smith
Laura “Sis” Elizabeth Smith, 82, of Slippery Rock passed away at 10:10 p.m. Tuesday at the VNA Inpatient Hospice in Butler.
She was born April 3, 1929, in Slippery Rock, the daughter of the late William Everett Cornelius and the late Nellie (Stephenson) Cornelius.
She loved to sew, crochet and garden, and she collected angels. She loved spending time with her family and friends.
She was a lifetime member of the Pleasant Valley United Presbyterian Church, where she taught Sunday school for many years.
Surviving are her son, Dennis S. Smith (fiancee, Kathy Whittenberger) of Butler; her daughter, Sandra L. (Denis) Edinboro of Slippery Rock; three grandchildren, Melissa (Brendan) Abbott, Amy (Brian) Campbell and Adam Edinboro; four great-grandchildren, Madison and Taylor Campbell, and Skylar and Shelby Abbott; three sisters, Bertha Durnell of Slippery Rock, Norma Rodgers of Slippery Rock and Thelma Slater of Mora, Minn.; and her brother, Harry Cornelius of Harrisville.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Stokely M. Smith, who died Nov. 11, 1998; a grandson, Justin Edinboro; and a brother, William Cornelius.

Jefferson St., Butler, today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Services will be at the funeral home Friday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Jeff Curtis of Mt. Chestnut United Presbyterian Church officiating.
