Paul Edward “Ed” Wirick, 56, of Browntown Road, Mercer Township, Harrisville, died at 4:51 a.m. Tuesday at his home following a lengthy illness.

Born in Mount Vernon, Ohio, Aug 10, 1954, he was a son of Clarence Dean Wirick and Patricia L. Warner.

He was married to Linda C. Babcock on Oct. 17, 1975.

Mr. Wirick was employed by SATEC (Instron) Corp., Grove City, as a field service engineer and was with the company for more than 30 years.

He was a member of the Grace United Methodist Church, Grove City.

A 1972 graduate of Grove City High School, he was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and served stateside during the Vietnam War.

He was a lifetime member of the NRA. He enjoyed golfing, bowling, hunting and fishing; was an avid Steelers and Penguins fan; and he enjoyed spending time with his entire family.

Surviving are his wife, Linda, at home; four children, Lisa Miller of Grove City, Robert Hamby of Ford City, Teri Ira and her husband, Derek, of Sacramento, Calif., and Stacey Shell and her husband, Michael, of Lacey, Wash.; nine grandchildren; four sisters, Barbara Gardner and her husband, Mike, of Fairfield, Calif., Anne M. Davis of Mercer, Kathy Rihel and her husband, Paul, of Slippery Rock and Kristy Royle of Grove City; and three brothers, Mike Wirick and his partner, Bill Burdsal, of Desert Hot Springs, Calif., Randall E. Davis and his wife, Marion, of New Wilmington and Daniel L. Davis and his wife, Aletha, of Franklin.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence D. “Moe” Wirick and Rudy L. and Patricia L. “Chief” Davis; a brother, Rudy A. Davis; and a nephew, Benjamin Rihel.

<B>WIRICK</B> — Funeral services for Paul Edward “Ed” Wirick, who died Tuesday, May 3, 2011, will be at the <B>Cunningham Funeral Home</B>, 306 Bessemer Ave., Grove City, Saturday at 10:30 a.m. with the Rev. Willard Morse, visitation pastor of Grace United Methodist Church, officiating. Visitation will be at the funeral home from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday.
