Robirda A. Schrecengost

Robirda A. Schrecengost, 96, of Chicora died at 8:55 p.m. Sunday in the VNA Inpatient Hospice, Butler, following a short illness.

Born May 30, 1914, in Sugarcreek Township, Armstrong County, she was the daughter of the late Sarah Thompson Steele and J.M. Steele.

She retired in 1974 after 20 years at the Agway egg processing plant in East Butler.

Mrs. Schrecengost was a member of the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, Chicora.

Surviving are a son, James Ronald Schrecengost of East Brady; and nine grandchildren, Debra Reed and Doug and Gregory Schrecengost, all of Karns City, Sandra Hollingsworth of Cummings, Ga., Timothy, James, Terry and Ronald Schrecengost, all of Chicora, and Rita Scott of Parker. She also is survived by 17 great-grandchildren, four step-great-grandchildren, seven great-great-grandchildren, seven step-great-great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Her husband, William Leroy Schrecengost, who she married Feb. 3, 1932, died June 5, 1986. She also was preceded in death by two sons, Leroy and Bobby Schrecengost; and three daughters, Caroline, Joanne and Adeline Schrecengost. A sister, Lilly Plunkard, and a brother, Floyd Steele, also are deceased.

<B>SCHRECENGOST </B>— Friends of Robirda A. Schrecengost, who died Sunday, April 17, 2011, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at the <B>Steighner Funeral Home</B>, downtown Chicora, and from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 2217 Chicora Road, Chicora, where services will follow at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Joseph Boomhower, pastor, officiating.
