Center Township scored three times in the first quarter, then held off East Butler, 46-36, Saturday to remain undefeated in the Butler Area Midget Football League.
Lucas Dubyak ran 20 yards for the first touchdown, then Wyatt Daugherty caught a pass for the conversion. Jamison Smith completed a 55-yard touchdown pass to Max Bachman with Dubyak running for the conversion. Dubyak then scored on a 21-yard run with Smith adding the conversion run.
Smith scored on a 3-yard run to hike the lead to 30-0 before Jacob Trinkley got East Butler on the board with a 49-yard touchdown run. Dubyak's 25-yard scoring run and conversion run gave the Rams (6-0) a 38-6 halftime lead.
East Butler's Jeremy Moorhead completed a 42-yard TD pass to Zach Hunka in the third quarter, then added the conversion run. Smith tossed a 51-yard scoring pass to Devin Fitz. Connor Frost added a conversion run to hike the lead to 46-14.
Trinkley scored on a 71-yard run for the Bulldogs (1-5) and Ian Steighner's conversion run closed the gap. In the fourth quarter, Tristan Patterson scored on a 53-yard run for East Butler, followed by Rhett Wahler's conversion run.
On the last play of the game, Moorhead threw a 16-yard touchdown pass to Patterson.
Meridian 14, Butler City 6 — Reid Werth's 25-yard touchdown pass to Adam Knauer just before halftime gave Meridian (3-3) the lead. Joe Greaves scored on a 1-yard run and Luke Baranchak threw to Knauer for the conversion and a 14-0 lead.Damien Pickett returned the ensuing kickoff 75 yards for a score for Butler City (2-4).Playoff games Saturday at Memorial Park pit Butler City against Meridian at 5:30 p.m., East Butler vs. Center Township at 7:30.The BAMFL championship game will be played Oct. 23 at Art Bernardi Stadium.
