BUTLER AREA MIDGET FOOTBALL LEAGUE

Center Township remained unbeaten in the Butler Area Midget Football League Saturday with a 22-18 victory over Butler City at Memorial Park.

Meridian defeated East Butler, 22-12, in the other varsity game.

Center Township 22, Butler City 18 — Damien Pickett got Butler City (2-2) on the board first with a 51-yard run in the first quarter.Center Township answered with a 55-yard TD pass from Jamison Smith to Max Bachman. Wyatt Daugherty then caught a conversion pass.The Rams extended their lead to 14-6 when Lucas Dubyak scored on a 1-yard run. Smith's 15-yard scoring pass to Daugherty upped the margin to 22-6 as Dubyak added the conversion run.Pickett returned the ensuing kickoff 75 yards for a touchdown and Tyler Coppersmith scored on a 1-yard run for Butler City on the game's final play.

Meridian 22, East Butler 12 — East Butler got the only points of the first half when Jeremy Moorhead scored on a 5-yard run. Meridian got even in the third quarter on Reid Werth's 34-yard touchdown run.Werth put the Raiders in front on an 88-yard run in the fourth quarter. Dominic Noel added the conversion run.Meridian then recovered a muffed kickoff and Matt Sarvey scored on a 16-yard run five plays later. Luke Baranchak's conversion run hiked the lead to 22-6.Moorhead teamed up with Tristan Patterson for a 70-yard touchdown pass for East Butler's final score.
