Edward A. Haller
Edward A. Haller, 91, of Mars died Wednesday afternoon at the LAS St. John Specialty Care Center in Mars.
Born in Pittsburgh, Oct. 12, 1918, he was the son of the late Christian and Signe Johansson Haller.
Mr. Haller was a steelworker for the U.S. Steel Irwin Works and then was the owner of Edward A. Haller & Co., a wholesale pet supply distributor in Evans City.
A technician third grade in the U.S. Army during World War II, he served with the 3168th Ordnance Base Artillery & Fire Control Co. and the 618th Ordnance Base Armament Maintenance Battalion.
He was a member of the John E. Mair Lodge 729 F&AM, and he was a Shriner.
Surviving are his wife, Olga Kucher Haller, who he married May 28, 1948; a son, William A. Haller and his wife, Sandra, of Mercer; and two daughters, Carole Steiner and her husband, James, of Altoona, and Margaret Stewart of Cranberry Township. He was the grandfather of Scott, Shelly, Rachel, Jennifer, Stephanie and Stephan; and great-grandfather of Emily and Jacob. Also many nieces and nephews survive.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Susan Lynne Haller; a sister, Sylvia Thomas; and three brothers, Russell and Kenneth Haller and John Smith.
