GIBSONIA — St. Barnabas Health System has hired Jack Hunt of Brighton Heights as an admissions counselor for the St. Barnabas Communities.

Hunt is responsible for meeting with prospective new residents and their families, showing them the benefits of retirement living at The Village at St. Barnabas, The Woodlands at St. Barnabas, White Tail Ridge and The Washington Place at St. Barnabas.

Hunt has 47 years of experience as an entertainer and is well known by his stage name, Johnny Angel. He is the founder of his namesake band, Johnny Angel and the Halos, which continues to perform Oldies concerts throughout the region.

Hunt is also a partner in all seven locations of Atria's Restaurants & Taverns and all three locations of Ditka's. He previously worked for Bell Atlantic from 1976 until 2003, serving in many capacities, including Director of Network Development, National Account Executive and Training Specialist.

Hunt, who is married with two children and five grandchildren, attended Duquesne University and the University of Pittsburgh and has a business associate's certificate in corporate competitive strategies from The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.

MIAMI — Tomato prices skyrocketed just three months ago, but they're falling now with an unexpected glut in Florida.The Sunshine State is the only place in the U.S. where tomatoes are grown on a large scale during winter. But even there, cold weather in January and February killed plants and caused a shortage that had some grocers charging nearly $4 a pound.Now that the weather has warmed, Florida farmers are seeing their surviving plants mature and tomatoes ripen all at once. That's caused a glut, and farmers who were getting $30 for 25 pounds in March are now averaging only about $4.75. Supermarket prices are falling too.Some farmers say they'll leave their tomatoes in the field, rather than sell them at a loss.
